How far have you come?
also...Pure healing isn't as effective as hybrid monking.

how far have you come = how far in the game are you.
I would not listen to the "pure healing isn't as effective." that is only 50% true.
if you are ALL heal and the only monk, yeah its not effective.
if there is a prot monk in the group, all heal is good.

Did you read the update notes from last night? LoD hybrid monking died last night. Hybrid monking in general may well have died too. At any rate, even before this last update, healing was significantly more energy efficient than prot (or hybrid) for the early game (and remained at least somewhat more efficient for most of PvE). Skateroffallen could be just fine with a pure healer (+ hex and condition removal) for the foreseeable future.
Skateroffallen, I'd take everything you read here with a grain of salt because (1) a lot of folks around here are caught up on what's trendy, which is not necessarily what works best in a given situation, and (2) last night's game updates made some very major changes to important monk skills which still have not been digested by the community.

yeah, last nights update was MAJOR change...
LoD got nerfed...
WoH got a major buff and became a self cast...
Healer's Boon lasts longer and doesn't get effected by casting.
The life of Monks are going through changes. You came just intime, you won't have to go from the change.

I'm still running a hybrid monk, be it with the nerfed LoD, WoH, B-Light, or ZB. It just doesn't feel right to be full prot or full heal after running a hybrid.
Here's a build. I don't know how far you are into factions, so I haven't included an elite. I don't know what your secondary is either, so I'm not including anything from there either.
Healing: 12+1+1
Divine Favor: 9+1
Protection: 9+1
[skill]Reversal of Fortune[/skill][skill]Signet of Rejuvenation[/skill][skill]Jamei's Gaze[/skill][skill]Mend Ailment[/skill][skill]Remove Hex[/skill][skill]Protective Spirit[/skill] OR [skill]Spirit Bond[/skill][skill]Guardian[/skill][skill]Rebirth[/skill]

I know that healing is more energy efficient in the early parts of the game.
That is why i asked how far he got in the game.
LoD was the best elite for hybrid monks. Now it's not, but that doesn't change the fact that Hybrid monking is effective.
There are plenty of other skills to choose from.
In the latter levels of play, Protecting is necessary for energy conservation. Healing got a huge buff, and that is why hybrid monking is very effective.
Damage mitigation + condition removal + hex removal + heals = win.
So what if LoD hybrid monking died? choose a different elite. There is no replacement for LoD on a monk, so why try to carry on with it? There are better skills now. WoH, Glimmer, and Blight got huge buffs. Choose one of them.
Healing Prayers and Protection Prayers are excellent attributes. Why choose one when they are so effective in their own right?

With the new changes, I'd say you have a selection between two skills now! LoD or WoH
